There’s a pretty good chance if your middle name is Reagan your parents were a fan of the president.  People often name their kids after other famous folks including politicians. BabyCenter --which tracks the most-popular names for babies each year, has calculated the effects this year's elections are having on baby names.  Speaking for myself, I hope this one isn't predictive!

As it turns out, of the more than 115-thousand baby names registered so far this year, the name Hillary was up 142 percent since last year, while the name Bill went up 113 percent and Chelsea jumped 18 percent.

Over on the Republican side, the name Donald was up nearly eight percent, while Melania and Ivanka were up 36 percent and four percent, respectively.

But another big gain was made by a political name not of this decade.  The name "Hamilton" --apparently thanks to the Broadway show of the same name-- was up 60 percent this year as a baby name. Other names from the show that have increased in popularity include Jefferson (up 171 percent), James (up 25 percent for boys), Maria (up nearly 22 percent), and George (up nearly 21 percent).
