A man arrested in connection with the March 2013 shooting death of his pregnant wife is expected to be back in Yakima County this week.

Cory Lindblom, the 27-year-old suspect, appeared in a Shelby County courtroom in Memphis, Tenn., where he waived extradition, clearing the way for him to be taken back to Yakima County to face a charge of first-degree manslaughter.

Investigators say he was free to leave that area, it just took a long time to come up with charges.

Officials say Lindblom shot his wife in their home after he mistook her for an intruder. He says he awoke from a deep sleep, saw a shadow, grabbed his weapon and fired.

Authorities say they had to do a lot of interviews and go over evidence, which is it why it took so long to charge Lindblom. Investigators say the shooting was far beyond what a reasonable person would do.

Lindblom will be held in the Yakima County jail.
