A parent protest outside the West Valley High School freshman campus caused the school to go into lockdown Wednesday.

School officials say the parent was staging a protest outside the school after her daughter was suspended Tuesday for fighting. The parent obtained surveillance footage and says her daughter clearly did not instigate the fight, so she wanted to know why the girl was punished.

The video shows a 15-year-old girl being assaulted in the hallway. The school district has a zero tolerance policy for fighting and both girls have been suspended.

West Valley School District Superintendent Dr. Mike Brophy says it does not matter who started or finished the fight, the school district has a zero tolerance policy and both students involved will be suspended.
