Mother Of Man Shot In Pasco Says Officers Should Go To Jail

KENNEWICK, Wash. (AP) — Agapita Montes-Rivera's first trip to the United States included viewing the body of her son, who was shot and killed by police in Washington state in a case that has sparked protests and calls for a federal investigation.

The Parotita, Mexico, woman says the three officers involved in the shooting of her son should go to prison.

Antonio Zambrano-Montes was shot to death Feb 10 after allegedly throwing rocks at officers near a busy intersection in the agricultural city of Pasco. His death is under investigation.

Montes-Rivera spoke to The Associated Press through an interpreter Tuesday at a library.

She says she watched video of the shooting in Mexico and ran up to the television set in a futile effort to stop the bullets. She says she wishes she could trade places with her son, one of her 16 children.
