This morning we talked about the prospect of Donald and Ivana Trump’s 1990 divorce file being opened to the national media.  Our thoughts – no way.  The Donald has been divorced twice, so that got us to wonder if divorce in America is as common as we often hear.  The conventional wisdom is that half of all marriages end in divorce but is that true?

Consider the source but, Cosmopolitan magazine reports the statistic simply isn't true.  The popular women’s magazine cites new research that found residents of Utah are the least likely to see their marriage end with just 16 percent of Utah couples call it quits.

The highest rate of unhappily-ever-after can be found in the nation’s capital (surprise!) with 31 percent of Washington, D.C couples filing dissolution papers. That’s far short of 50%.

Our friends at the personal finance company WalletHub put D.C in the spotlight and looked at numbers from the U.S. Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Gallup and other research and they discovered the nation's capital has the lowest suicide rate, the lowest obesity rate and is number one for binge drinking!  And now you know!
