The search for a missing climber on Mt. rainier has been suspended. 50 year old Rob Planker from Olympia had become hypothermic during a climb on the difficult Liberty Ridge route and his climbing partners left to get help. A helicopter from Joint Base Lewis McCord joined the ground search Tuesday and Mt. Rainier National Park spokeswoman Patti Wold says the helicopter found signs of a man made slide from where planker was last seen. The park has called off the search saying it’s too dangerous. Planker is described as an experienced hiker who worked for Olympic outfitters in Olympia.
