Firefighters working on the Miriam Fire burning near Clear Lake are beginning to increase containment. The fire is now 30 percent contained at 3,146 acres. Hundreds of firefighters continue to battle the flames tough conditions.

Sunday began with clear skies but as the day progressed, the smoke returned to the area. Moderate fire behavior was observed in several areas of the fire. More than 330 people are working on the fire. Fire officials hope to have the fire fully contained by September 1. It was started by lightning on July 30.
