Millions Coming to State to Help Fix Road Near Oso

The federal government says it's giving Washington state $35 million to rebuild State Route 530, which was damaged in the Oso landslide in March.

U.S. Rep. Suzan DelBene says the money's coming from an emergency relief program at the federal Department of Transportation. The congresswoman says she has driven across the highway many times in recent months, and she knows it's important to improve the safety of the road and to keep up tourism and business in the area.

The March 22 landslide killed 43 people and caused millions of dollars in damage to homes and to Highway 530. Work to rebuild and elevate the roadway is expected to be completed in October.
