Students put their class work in action Saturday at the Science Olympiad at Yakima Valley Community College.

More than 100 middle school students from nine local valley schools competed for the chance to move on to the state competition, or even the national competition in Orlando, FL!

"I really liked the experience of getting to do a bunch of stuff that I've never done before," Michaela told KNDO News.

"I hope they take away a science interest," Cresanna Zeigler of Heritage University said. "I hope that they take away that science and engineering and technology can be fun."

Students competed in a multitude of different events including building and flying helicopters.
