LOS ANGELES (AP) — If Mick Jagger had gotten his way, he would have played Alex in the movie version of "A Clockwork Orange" and The Rolling Stones would have been his droogs. Billboard reports Jagger's letter to screenwriter Terry Southern asking him to dump actor David Hemmings for the role of Alex and use him instead is for sale. Jagger included a petition signed by all four members of The Beatles, Marianne Faithfull and model Anita Pallenberg. Jagger even promised The Beatles would do the soundtrack. It obviously didn't do any good. Director Stanley Kubrick took over the movie, wrote the screenplay and cast Malcolm McDowell as Alex. Auctioneer Paddle 8 believes the letter is worth $18,000 to $25,000. The auction ends October 29.
