I like TV, always have. It kinda drives my wife crazy.  Crime shows like Law and Order help channel my inner Sherlock Holmes.  She does however, often marvel at my ability to solve murder mysteries which I used to chalk up to my “experience” of too many hours in front of the tube.  But now I have reinforcements by way of research out of the U.K. as reported in the Daily Mail which claims men actually are better at guessing how they'll end than women are.

It’s all about the famed and often maligned male emotional detachment.

Researcher Dr. David Lewis explains that men tend to remain detached while watching crime dramas, while women pay more attention to the emotions of the story. Lewis says, "A man is much more likely to look at that and say 'ah ha!'  A woman, because she is focused on the emotions, is less likely to spot these things designed to give you a hint.

Women tend to be much more empathic. They tend to associate with people at an emotional level much better than men." Lewis noted that there have been no studies done on this topic, saying his theory is drawn from anecdotal evidence. He also added that men enjoy watching violence on TV far more than women do.
