This Monday is Memorial Day.  And despite how most of us spend the day it is not the unofficial first day of Summer, swimming, boating,  bar-b-que, camping, hiking, gardening, baseball/tennis/badminton/croquet/softball, nor is it just another day off work, car sale, mattress sale, furniture sale, picnic, nik-knack-give-a -dog-a- bone.

Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.  Formerly known as Decoration Day, it was originated to commemorate the Union and Confederate soldiers who died in the Civil War. By the 20th century Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died while in themilitary service.  Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans, living or dead for their service…Memorial Day honors those who paid the ultimate price.

I got this video in an email and I hope you’ll check it out and appreciate the magnitude of the sacrifice that paid for our way of life.
