Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) William Wharton Post 379 of Yakima, and Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Ramon Dang, US Army, of the Yakima Training Center- will cohost the Medal of Honor Memorial Dedication Ceremony for Staff Sergeant Pendleton. The ceremony will happen at Tahoma Cemetery in Yakima on Wednesday, September 26, at 10:00 a.m.

The Memorial is the result of the coordination and efforts of Dang. Dang spent the past year collecting donations, designing the memorial, and planning the dedication.  The VFW Post 379 has strongly supported the effort and his vision to provide a memorial for Yakima's only Medal of Honor recipient.

SSG Pendleton was posthumously awarded the nation’s highest award for valor for his actions in Germany during World War 2. The Staff Sergeant Pendleton Medal of Honor Memorial will stand as a large granite memorial on the southern portion of cemetery.  The Dedication of the memorial will begin promptly at 10:00AM and will include an invocation, a rifle salute, and the playing of "taps".
