The Yakima County People for People Meals on Wheels program continues to operate after a $26,000 funding cut this year.

The program serves some 900 people in Yakima, mainly seniors on limited incomes.

Program Manager Debbie Sugden says this year's cut was the largest the program has ever suffered.

Many people are doing two or more jobs in the program just to keep it operational.

Sugden says they are doing everything they can to raise enough money to fill the gap left by the federal cut. She says everyone is being served, but if the money cannot be made up cuts are possible.

Sugden says since the report came out in early May that the program would be losing $26,000, they have received $4,500 in donations.
