Martial Arts Instructor Behind Bars on Rape Charge

A Yakima martial arts instructor, 35-year-old Cristiano Oliveira, is behind bars on a rape charge.

Police say Oliveira is an instructor at Gracie Barra Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Yakima.

According to court documents, a 20-year-old girl recently told police she was made to have sex with her martial arts instructor at least 100 times between August of 2008 and October of 2010. At that time she was only 14-16 years old.

She told police she felt like she had been "broken" from the sexual encounters.

The judge set Oliveira's bail at $1 million and his passport has been confiscated so he cannot escape to his home country of Brazil.

Oliveira faces charges of child molestation, rape of a child and sexual misconduct with a minor.
