Eric Wedge says Smoak will start the season on first, unless "something drastic happens."

Keep in mind that the Mariners acquired 1st baseman/DH Kendys Morales in the offseason, but Wedge says that Morales will open the season as the designated hitter.

Wedge also says that he doesn't like to make regular season decisions during spring training.

“Right now, sitting here today, we’re lined up to where Smoak is going to get the bulk of the time at first base,” he said. And Kendrys (Morales) is going to get the bulk of the time DHing. But we’ve got enough flexibility and versatility that we can change off that if we have to.”
