The Mariners are mired in another losing season, but a team official confirmed Tuesday that General Manager Jack Zduriencik will be running the club next season.

Mariners team president Chuck Armstrong told the Seattle Times that the under fire GM would be back next year.

“Yes, Jack will be back,” Armstrong told the Times’ Geoff Baker.

Rumors of an extension first surfaced earlier this summer, but there was no official word until Tuesday.

The Mariners are currently in a twelve year playoff drought, and are 69-89 in 2013 with only a few games to go. Their most recent winning season was in 2009.

Zduriencik has said that he will make a decision on field manager Eric Wedge next week.
