For the first time this year the Los Angeles Angels beat the Seattle Mariners. Garret Richards and two relievers combined on a one-hitter to lead the Angels to a 2-0 win over the Mariners at Safeco Field.  The Angels only offense came on a two-run homer by Albert Pujols, who homered for the second straight game.

Albert Pujols homered for the second straight game while Garrett Richards and two relievers combined on one-hitter as the Los Angeles Angels beat the Seattle Mariners 2-0 on Wednesday night.  Pujols homer in the third off Seattle starter Roenis Elias (0-1). That was all the offense the Angels got, but all they needed with how Richards was pitching.

Richards (2-0) threw seven shutout innings. Abraham Almonte was the only Seattle batter to reach via hit when he singled in the third inning.

Elias, the rookie from Cuba pitched well, giving up just two runs and five hits over five innings for his first loss of the year.

The Mariners are off today and begin a weekend series with the Oakland A's tomorrow at Safeco Field.
