FERNDALE (AP) — Police say a man shot in the head in a Washington motel was taken to a hospital and then arrested on a felony warrant.

The Bellingham Herald reports that the Ferndale Police Department did not name the man, who was shot in the head late Saturday. A statement from the department says no arrest has been made in connection with the shooting.

Police say the man told them he was a guest in a motel room where he planned to use narcotics but was shot in the head by an unknown person. A relative drove him to St. Joseph hospital in Bellingham.

After treatment, the man was booked into Whatcom County Jail on a warrant for escaping custody.
