TACOMA. (AP) — A Pierce County man charged with firing a gun inside a vehicle while his three young children were in the back seat has been sentenced to three months in prison.

The News Tribune reports Mathew Weaver pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges of reckless endangerment and violating a domestic court order as part of a plea deal.

Prosecutors say Weaver had gotten upset while the mother of his children, ages 2, 4 and 9, was driving the family on a camping trip in August.

Court papers say he hit the woman in the face with a coffee mug before firing a gun out the window and into the roof of the vehicle.

The woman had a protection order against Weaver, but had agreed to go camping with him and the kids.

Weaver declined to comment.
