A 51-year-old Yakima man is recovering at a local hospital after being shot by a Yakima police officer at a mobile home in the 100 block of E. Viola Avenue Thursday night.

The suspect is expected to be released from the hospital and booked into the county jail later today.

Police were called to the home because of an argument. When they arrived the suspect was in a back bedroom holding a rifle he refused to drop. One of the officers fired shots and struck the suspect in the upper left arm.

No officers were injured.

The investigation continues as this is the second officer related shooting this month.
