SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — The man killed by Spokane police on Sunday has been identified as 33-year-old Dexter Martin Dumarce.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner released the man's name on Wednesday.

A Spokane police officer stopped Dumarce near downtown early Sunday morning, then reported that Dumarce had pulled a knife on him and was fleeing on foot.

The man was shot four times following a foot chase.

The incident is being investigated by the Spokane Investigative Regional Response Team, comprised of the Spokane Police Department, the Washington State Patrol and the Spokane County Sherriff's Office. Once the investigation is complete the case will be forwarded to the Spokane County Prosecutor's Office for review.
