A 36-year-old man faces a charge of vehicular assault and driving under the influence after police say he ran over a woman while driving around looking for a party in the Nile Valley Sunday night.

Yakima County Sheriff's deputies say the 21-year-old woman was treated at a local hospital and released.

Officials say Elizabeth Englund from Auburn was lying on her grandparents lawn on Westsiders Lane just before midnight Sunday looking at the stars when a truck drove up the lane. Deputies say the driver ran over the woman while trying to turn around. He apparently backed off after hearing her scream.

Englund was taken to a Yakima hospital where she was treated for a shoulder injury and released.

The Richland man was arrested and faces charges in Yakima County Superior Court this week.
