Catholic Charities Housing Services (CCHS) would like to invite all all community volunteers and those interested in the construction of the Mabton Community Park (MCP) to come to the Mabton Community Park Construction Weekend-Friday, March 30th and Saturday, March 31st, from 9am-4pm (both days). Open To the public both days and they encourage area business and community organizations to make Friday, March 30th a corporate volunteer day and join the Mabton community in bringing the park to life!

Mabton Community Park is a collaborative community-effort to create a gathering space with the residents of the City of Mabton and the surrounding community. Over a year ago the park site was a 1.5 acre of land that was overgrown with weeds. The park was cleaned through community clean-up days and through in-kind donations, the site has been excavated and graded. During the volunteer weekend, the community will lay sod to complete the multi-purpose playfield, finish the tetherball courts and work on completing the volleyball court. In onr month alone, a group of local Mabton youth committee partnered with several adults and CCHS to sand and paint poles that were donated by Golden Gate Hops, transforming them into tetherball court poles. The Mabton Park Youth Committee was a recent recipient of a Yakima Youth Award for their combined efforts towards building their community a park.

Interested volunteers can sign up either by calling Laura Armstrong, Resident Service Coordinator and MCP Project Manager or Bryan Ketcham Director of CCHS  at (509) 853-2800. Click Here For Sign Up and Details.
