A 6-month-old died at a Yakima hospital following a crash Sunday afternoon on I-82 south of Ellensburg.

Police say a car lost a cooler which landed in the road. A car driven by 23-year-old, Wesley Fletcher slowed down to avoid the cooler. A ford F-150, driven by 52-year-old Gregg Broyles then hit the Mazda Hatchback, driven by Fletcher. The car was totaled. Inside the Mazda was 24-year-old, Rebekah Fletcher and the 6-month-old who died. Rebekah was injured and taken to a Yakima hospital.

There were three passengers in the Ford pickup. 58-year-old Ruth Broyles, a 3-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy. All three passengers were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The Washington State Patrol says drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the crash. Charges are pending.

The driver who lost the cooler contacted the Yakima State Patrol office after the accident reported at about 1pm. His name has not been released.
