Many people in the Yakima Valley Today are remembering A man known to so many inside and outside of the photography industry, Ken Whitmire who was killed in a on car crash on Highway 12 on Saturday. His portraits hang in thousands of homes in the Yakima Valley and throughout the United States. Washington State Patrol Troopers say the 86-year-old was driving west bound when his vehicle crossed the center line and went into a ditch eventually striking a tree. The crash happened at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday 30 miles east of Morton. Troopers say he died at the scene.
Whitmire opened his first studio in Yakima in 1956. Today his work is part of the history of the Yakima Valley.
