Angie Beaudry thinks the government should keep its business out of her business.

Beaudry owns Planet Sun Tanning on Yakima Avenue and is against a move by the state legislature to ban minors from using tanning beds.

"I think it should be up to parents whether they want children to tan or not. I think when you place government control over that, it takes away our freedom and our rights generally."

Beaudry says a majority of her customers are between the ages of 18 and 35 but she says she does have customers who are less than 18.

Senator Curtis King of Yakima is the sponsor of the Bill 6065 that passed the house on Wednesday and now goes to the Senate for consideration. He wants to reduce the chances of teens later getting skin cancer.

Under the bill, tanning facilities that allow people under 18 to tan face a $250 fine per violation. California, Illinois, Nevada, Texas, Vermont and Oregon already ban the use of tanning beds for minors.
