Since the city of Longview decided to make the squirrel their official city mascot a few days ago, we've asked you whether Yakima needs an official city mascot -- and if so what should it be?

We had fun reading your suggestions. And after talking with you, the listener, we now wonder whether Yakima should take the idea seriously if we could come up with an-encompassing mascot for the area.

We've narrowed down the choices to potential mascots that have ties to the Yakima Valley.

Our two finalists are the black bear (Yakima means “black bear” in the native Sahaptin language), and the honey bee (without them, the area's agriculture industry wouldn't be able to produce our fruits and vegetables.)

So, we're asking you to vote again and choose between these two. We'll present the idea to the Yakima City Council for approval.
