A Washington state man and woman accused of leaving three young children alone without food in a cold, filthy house have been charged with criminal mistreatment and abandonment of a dependent person.

The Daily Herald of Everett reports that charges were filed Friday in Everett District Court. Prosecutors have two weeks to refile the charges in Snohomish County Superior Court.

Lake Stevens police say they believe the children, ages 7, 3 and 10 months, had been alone in the house for days when they were found Jan. 31. The infant reportedly was dehydrated and hypothermic. The children are now in state care.

Amanda Foley and Mark Dorson were earlier ordered held on $100,000 bail each. At a court appearance Wednesday, a judge was told that Foley is pregnant and has told police she has been using meth.
