Maybe the folks at Starbucks are right.  Pour a Grande latte –wait, better make that just a Venti latte and check this out.  Another study reinforces coffee’s health benefits.  This time , as reported in Time, research out of South Korea reveals drinking three to five cups of coffee per day may help reduce signs of blocked arteries.   I cynically ask if it’s the coffee or if it’s the walking – walking to and from the bathroom!  But back to the study and it’s a pretty big one too.

Twenty five thousand participants, who previously showed no signs of heart disease were examined for calcium buildups in their veins indicating plaque growth which and can cause heart attacks and strokes. Researchers discovered that those who drank the least amount of coffee, and interestingly also the most, had a larger amount of calcium in their arteries than those who consumed a moderate amount.

Maybe the folks at Starbucks are Greeks—you know, “in all things moderation”?

This I find particularly interesting. The  findings were even consistent through different human behavior subsectors, such as smokers, drinkers and those with obesity issues. The British Heart Foundation cautions that more research is needed to confirm the findings. (Which sounds like a call for another grant to me! I know, but I said I was cynical—and sadly not a coffee drinker,
