The Kittitas County Sheriff's Office is busy after a woman's body and a set of human bones were discovered this week along the Columbia River.

A Grant County PUD employee saw the woman's body Thursday morning about 20 miles north of the Vantage Bridge. The Sheriff's Marine Patrol Unit retrieved the body and deputies say it appears the woman had been in the water for up to four weeks.

An autopsy on Friday did not show any obvious signs of how she died. Detectives are working with a crime lab and researching missing persons cases.

Also on Friday, a person who lives in Kittitas County reported finding human bones along the Swauk Creek near the Hidden Valley Ranch.

Detectives are actively working the scene and interviewing other people who live in the area to try and identify the person.
