Parents can obtain free health and developmental screenings for their young children during the KidScreen clinic sessions at White Swan on April 15 and at Tieton on April 27.

KidScreen is a collaboration of several area health agencies that provides free screenings for children from birth to 6 years old in locations throughout Yakima County during the year.  Free screenings are available for hearing, vision, dental, physical exams, behavioral skills, and developmental skills.  Insurance resources are also provided to parents, and child immunizations are available for children whose parents bring immunization records.

The free services give parents an opportunity to gain information about their child’s development and to address any problems early on that may hinder a child’s health or successful learning.

The KidScreen session at White Swan will be held Friday, April 15, at Yakama Nation Head Start at 61 Rodeo Drive from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The other KidScreen session for April will be held at Tieton on Wednesday, April 27, in Highland Methodist Church at 261 Highland Road from noon to 5 p.m.

Parents interested in bringing their children to a KidScreen session will need to call ahead of time to schedule an appointment at 1-866-543-7276.

KidScreen will host 14 free screening dates throughout the year at 13 cities in Yakima County.
