Children should spend at least three hours of exercise each day, according to a recommendation from the government of Finland. The Finnish government has advised parents to actively encourage children to pursue hobbies and interests that require physical exertion. Children aged eight and under are the focus of the new government recommendation.

The BBC says Finland is known for producing some of the most physically fit children in Europe, and some of the highest academic results among schoolchildren in the developed world.
