The Cle Elum Ranger District and the Cascade Field and Stream Club invite young anglers to gather up their gear and head to Lavender Lake for the 22nd Annual Kids Fishing Derby. Kids 14 and younger can celebrate National Fishing and Boating Week by joining in the derby from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on June 9. Registration opens at 6:30 a.m.

A fishing license is not required to participate in the derby and there is no entry fee.

The derby sponsors will award prizes to children in the age categories of 5 and under, 6-8, 9-11, and 12-14. Prizes will be awared to the child that caught the largest fish, to the first fish caught, and to the anglers who catch the largest trout and non-trout overall. Participants will receive a gift bag at registration. Make sure to register early as supplies are limited.

In the past, more than 90 children have participated in this fun and educational morning. Previous fishing experience is not necessary. Lavender Lake is near Easton, and can be accessed from I-90's Exit 74. Call the Cle Elum Ranger District at (509) 852-1068 with any questions.
