Just Get on the Bus Gus–New Wine Tour Business Opens -Dave’s Diary

New wineries seem to open their door every week…so why not open a business to help get people to all those doors?  Meet Wineries Express.  They say “Wine touring in Eastern Washington becomes easier, safer, more informative and entertaining than ever before!”

Wineries Express now offers “step on” tours of Yakima Valley wineries from Selah to Prosser each Friday through Sunday, April to October.  Tours for individuals and small groups originate from and return to the Yakima Valley Visitor Information Center, conveniently located at 101 Fair Avenue, (near Target), in Yakima.

Tours depart at 11:00am and return between 3:00pm and 5:00pm, and include 4 – 7 wineries, but special tour times and destinations can be arranged.

Ride the roomy, comfortable tour bus with wrap-around seating and large view windows to observe the countryside. Get on and off the air-conditioned, 13- passenger vehicle while standing fully upright.

No need to push the limits on tasting and driving, or make someone abstain for safety. Wineries Express is your designated driver. Your driver knows where he is going and will help you select destinations that suit your particular interests.  It’s easier than repeatedly scooting into and out of a low car, and there’s plenty of room to safely store the wine you buy along the way.

Your friendly driver-guide, Eric G. Miller, understands how a fine wine is created and how it should taste. He has a Global Wine Studies degree from Central Washington University.  He knows the wine industry, the people and places in it, and a lot of the geography, agriculture and technology of wine-making and Eastern Washington farming practices.

Miller will share his knowledge through short introductions at each winery and answer all your questions during the tour.  His free monthly e-newsletter will offer interesting tidbits about wine history update you on the most delicious recent wine releases and alert you to upcoming regional wine activities, events, and tour specials.

A Friday or Saturday 5 hour Yakima Valley wine tour is $55 per person.

Sunday tours are $40 for a shorter and closer to Yakima special tour.

  • Purchase two or more fares at one time and receive 10% off the total price.
  • Get extra savings by booking a two day weekend pass, which includes a Sunday tour, for the special price of $85!
  • Each time you ride after the first visit, you receive a half price discount on any subsequent tour to which you bring a new guest.

Do that five times and you’ll get two free tour tickets and enjoy the benefits of club membership!
