Jury selection is underway in Yakima County Superior Court in the trial of a man accused of killing two women outside of the Moneytree business on South First Street in Yakima in 2016. Manuel Verduzco of Selah is charged with two counts of aggravated first degree murder in the March 26, 2016 shooting deaths of Marta Martinez and Karina Morales-Rodriguez. Both were shot outside the business as they were arriving for work. In October of last year Yakima County Prosecutor Joe Brusic announced he wasn't seeking the death penalty in the case.
Verduzco is being held without bail in the Yakima County jail. If convicted Verduzco faces life in prison without parole.
