SPOKANE (AP) — A Yakima County judge has blocked an effort to recall Spokane Mayor David Condon.

Superior Court Judge Blaine Gibson on Tuesday threw out all the allegations against Condon.

A petition filed by Spokane accountant David Green contended that Condon delayed the release of public records regarding the firing of former police chief Frank Straub until after his re-election last November.

It also contended that Condon violated city policies in his handling of sexual harassment claims made by former police spokeswoman Monique Cotton against Straub.

The petition also criticized the mayor for appointing a new chief without submitting the pick to the City Council.

The only Spokane mayor to be recalled was the late Jim West in 2005.

Green has 15 days to appeal directly to the state Supreme Court.
