If you belong to a gym and go there even on a semi-regular basis, you know that it can be pretty crowded in January. Don't worry, it should be just about back to normal.

I've belonged to my neighborhood gym for well over ten years. I started out a very regular user, stayed away for a few years, and now I'm back two to three times per week. I don't do anything radical, just like to walk on the treadmill, but I really enjoy it.

I've found recently that what they say about gyms in January is true. A lot of people make a new year's resolution to get in shape, so they join a gym. So, my local gym was pretty crowded last month. It was hard to get a treadmill at my regular exercise time.

At the end of January I suffered a pretty bad hamstring pull.(How I got it is a story in itself.) It took about three weeks to heal, so my gym routine went on hiatus for a while. I finally got back to my work out on Tuesday night at my usual time.

What do you think I noticed right away?

A gym that was packed last month has thinned out considerably. Where I had to wait for a treadmill last month, last night I had several to choose from. Who was using the occupied machines? The people that I've seen using those machines regularly for the past few months.

So much for those get in shape resolutions. Except for me. I'm still at it.
