It's that time of year again. It's time to thank a trucker. This is National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. It's a time to thank the folks that deliver America's freight safely and securely everyday. Roger Bell from Yakima's Haney Trucking says it's easy to take the drivers for granted. "That old saying if you bought it a truck brought it is absolutely true. Think about it a little bit. Everything you buy a truck had something to do with getting it to you."

More than 3.4 million Professional truck drivers work every day of the year logging more than 431 million miles and delivering more than 10 billion tons of freight. Bell says the best thing drivers can do is to not drive agressively around the trucks and give them plenty of room to manuever the rigs. Bell also says stay out of the drivers no zone or blind spots.

A special truck driver appreciation BBQ will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Gearjammer Truck Stop in Union Gap. It's one of many appreciation events being held around the country this week during National Truck Driver Appreciation week.
