It's that time of year again. Time to thank a trucker. This is National Truck Driver Appreciation week. A time to thank the folks that deliver America's freight safely and securely everyday. More than 3.4 million professional truck drivers work every day of the year logging more than 431 million miles and delivering more than 10 billion tons of freight. Officials at Yakima's Haney Trucking say the best thing people can do is to not drive aggressively around the trucks and give them plenty of room to maneuver the rigs.  They also say stay out of the drivers no-zone or blind spots.
A special truck driver appreciation BBQ will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Gearjammer Truck Stop in Union Gap. It's one of many appreciation events being held around the country this week during National Truck Driver Appreciation week.
