It might be one hot summer in Yakima, but for Father Richard House, pastor of St. John Catholic Church in Naches, it's Christmas time. House began collecting nativity sets in 1995 while recovering from cancer treatments. He was finishing a tour in Europe when he bought his first nativity set, one made in Peru out of matchsticks. That nativity set is now one of hundreds. House says the idea to display the nativity sets came when he had to move them from a basement.

House says that Christmas time is too busy around the school, so July is the perfect time to share his collection. The nativity sets will be on display for the public at St. Paul Cathedral School July 15-17. The school will be open from 10 a.m to 4 p.m.. Admission is free, but donations are welcome.
