Investigation Under Way for Two Early Tuesday Fires

KNDO

Two fires in Yakima early Tuesday morning are under investigation.

Capt. Tom Schnieder of the Yakima Fire Department says the first fire was reported near Bemis Appliance & TV in the 1500 block of South First Street, but he says, “The business wasn’t damaged. [The fire] was at a storage unit next door.”

That fire was reported just before 4:30 a.m. Tuesday. Damage is estimated at $80,000.

Minutes later, a second fire was reported at a stereo installation business in the 700 block of East Nob Hill Boulevard. Damage to that business is estimated at $300,000.

No word on how either fire started. Both remain under investigation.
