When the Yakima City Council meets Tuesday the council will have to make a big decision. Whether or not to cancel the Yakima Downtown Plaza Project. KIT News has learned at least half of the 7 member council say they plan to vote no on the issue...others are still deciding.
If the project is voted down by the council more than $9 million in donated money will be given back and the main parking lot downtown will not be impacted.
if the vote isn't successful in cancelling the project the city will still be in a legal fight over a city ordinance that bars the lot from being used for anything else but parking.
The council meets at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at Yakima City Hall.
