Immigrants across Washington State and in Yakima are upset about a U.S. Supreme Court ruling Thursday. The courts 4-4 vote effectively kills President Obama's plan to shield millions more immigrants in the U.S. illegally from deportation and grant them work permits. Fernando Mejia is the Organizing Director of One America based in Seattle who tells KIT News while many families are disappointed "they're also planning to channel their anger and determination toward civic engagement in this election year." Mejia says that doesn't necessarily mean supporting one candidate or the other it means supporting what they say. "It's about what candidates are talking about and if they align with our values." He says while families are concerned about deportation they're also encouraged to keep pushing for immigration reform and a better path to citizenship.
