So far no measles cases reported in Yakima County but 4 cases have been reported on the west side of the state including an infant in King County. Sheryl Depietro with the Yakima County Health District says they've issued a health alert to make sure valley residents know the importance of being immunized. She says if you are traveling soon make sure you know your immunization status. If you don't she tells KIT News. "They should consider either finding out if they're immuned or getting vaccinated." Depietro says if you were born before 1957 you may be immune to the measles but she says make sure you check with your doctor to see if you are protected. She says it's especially important if you are traveling anytime soon. Depietro says the health alert issued today is simply a warning to people in the valley to protect themselves because measles is a deadly disease.
