3,000 Yakima residents are being asked to be part of the city latest citizen survey to help guide city policy. Spokesman Randy Beehler says the 3,000 people have been randomly selected to get a good sampling of the community. He says they're receiving postcards today notifying them they're part of the survey. Beehler says past surveys have helped city officials respond directly to the needs of Yakima residents. He says for example in surveys in 2012 and 2013 "we heard that the community thought our roads were in disrepair and that the city should focus on the roads. And in turn the city has in the last two years or will by the end of this year repaved about 120 lane miles of roads in Yakima." Survey takers are asked to rate various aspects of Yakima including quality of life, safety, events and activities, city services, local
government performance, and specific programs or projects the city should focus on. Results will be available this fall and could help to further direct the city and prioritize work and programs that people want in the future.
