The event will also allow you to dispose of old and unused prescription medications as well.

Yakima County Crimestoppers along with Solaritry Credit Union, C.I. Shred, and the Yakima Police Department are sponsoring an identity theft awareness shred and prescription medication disposal day this Saturday. It will be held at Solarity Credit Union, 505 North Fifth Avenue in Yakima from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

It's a chance to bring your outdated financial records including bank statements, old checks, credit card statements and offers and other items that contain personal and financial information and have them securely shredded.

You can also turn in your unused and expired prescription medications for safe disposal. There are o limits on the amount of medication to bring in to dispose.

Material is limited to two banker boxes or three shopping bags of personal items.

Shred items and medicine must be clearly separated.

There is no cost for this service but Yakima County Crime Stoppers will be accepting donations for their reward fund.
