If you don't have to go outside today grab a book and enjoy a day inside. A heavy sheet of ice covers the Yakima Valley, delaying and closing schools, businesses and the Yakima Air Terminal.

The ice storm started Tuesday afternoon and continues this morning. But the weather is expected to improve with just normal rain showers this afternoon.

Meantime, roads are slick all around the valley and on Cascade passes. I-90 was closed in both directions overnight because of freezing rain, crashes and downed trees. Check this website for updates on the passes, the weather and schools.
City officials say Yakima Transit routes will be delayed and will begin running at 10:30 a.m. Officials at the Yakima airport say they're waiting to see if the weather improves before opening the airport this morning.
