The Ellensburg Daily record reports an enforcement action by federal agents of the U.S.Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) took place early this morning in Ellensburg and in Kittitas County north of city limits.
A helicopter with a search light appeared to be part of the effort. Several local residents said it was operating at a low altitude and using a search light.
Agents on the ground, assisted by Ellensburg police and Kittitas County sheriff’s deputies, also were involved.
Lorie Dankers, a spokeswoman for the ICE office in Seattle, said several criminal search warrants were served on local residences.
She said the warrants were associated with an ongoing criminal investigation.
Dankers declined to comment on anything else, including what alleged crimes were involved, how many search warrants were executed, whether any one was arrested and what the ongoing investigation concerned.
