The first special session of the Washington State Legislature wraps up today and the prospects for a state budget are still pretty grim—like a fairy tale kinda “Grimm”. Could we be facing a shutdown of State Government?  In a facebook post 13th District State Representative Matt Manweller of Ellensburg says House Democrats are threatening just that.

"Received very disappointing news today. The House Democrats have informed us they will not allow the passage of any budget unless we agree to new taxes. They are demanding an income tax, a 20% increase in B&O tax, or a carbon tax or they will block budget."

"Despite almost $4,000,000,000 in new revenue--and the ability to fund all programs with raises--they will shut down the state government if we don't give them one of the taxes above."

"I am at a loss to explain this childish stance, but they have the votes to block any budget deal."
